Reborn Bathroom Solutions honors local veteran, Ronald Bobincheck, by providing him with a free remodeled bath

This Veterans Day, Reborn Bathroom Solutions, a greater California-based home remodeling company specializing in bathrooms and kitchens and a division of Reborn Cabinets Inc., has teamed up with nine home improvement companies from across the country on an initiative called Baths for the Brave. This one-day special event took place Wednesday, Nov. 8 ahead of Veterans Day to provide 10 veterans, including Ronald Bobincheck from La Habra, California, with a brand-new tub or shower system to improve the lives of those who sacrificed so much for our country. The free of charge remodels happened simultaneously coast to coast. Bobincheck is a U.S. Army veteran who served in the military from 1959-1962. As Bobincheck tells the story, he was stationed near where crews were building the Berlin Wall in Germany when Russian forces put up a road block on the only road into Berlin. Bobincheck and his fellow soldiers were woken … Continue reading

You Don’t Have to Stand for Low-Threshold Showers

One of the most popular trends in bathroom renovations is the conversion of a traditional tub/shower combination into a low- or no-threshold shower. At first blush, some homeowners in Huntington Harbour Villages, California, may view this remodel as a tradeoff between luxury and safety, envisioning a stark, barebones stall that provides easy access to a bathing enclosure but little else. No more long baths. No more relaxing soaks. No more sitting! Just a quick shower and then out. The reality, however, is that today’s low-threshold showers are a far cry from bland and uninspiring. In fact, these types of enclosures can be downright decadent, with a nearly endless array of options and accessories that allow homeowners to tailor their bathing space to provide an ideal level of comfort, convenience, beauty, and of course safety. Let’s start with the walls. Shower tiling can range from the exotic to the everyday. High-end … Continue reading

Talk Like a Designer: Aging in Place – And in Style!

As baby boomers enter their golden years, more and more are opting to age in place. Of course, the needs of older homeowners change over time, and their homes should change with them to better ensure independence in the years to come. While some Colony Cove, California, homeowners may worry that modifying their residences to better suit their requirements will make them drabber, drearier, and less stylish, the truth is there’s absolutely no reason why style and safety can’t go hand in hand. In fact, many renovations that benefit aging homeowners are also appreciated by their younger counterparts. Take bathing enclosures, for example. Traditional tub/shower combinations used to be the norm for homes in Colony Cove, CA, and across the nation. But that’s beginning to change. Having a low- or no-threshold shower in the home is now seen as a perk, if not an outright necessity. Not only do these … Continue reading

Aging in Place: Where Should You Place Safety Bars?

Safety bars, also commonly called grab bars, are designed to provide convenient handholds for those who need a little extra stability in order to safely navigate their San Juan Hills, California, home. Bathrooms can be especially challenging for homeowners with mobility issues, which is why they are the most common place to install safety bars. But there are a couple of things to keep in mind when deciding where to position them. The wall next to a toilet is a popular location for a grab bar, but if you have a standard-height toilet, consider replacing it with a comfort-height toilet first. The extra height will make standing and sitting easier. You can then add a horizontal safety bar about six inches above the seat to provide an optimally positioned handhold. If you have a traditional tub/shower combo in your San Juan Hills, CA, bathroom, horizontal grab bars should be installed … Continue reading

Talk Like a Designer: Quartz vs. Natural Stone

If you’re looking into getting new countertops for your home in Palmia, California, you’ve probably found that quartz and natural stone are at the top of the list as some of the best options available. But what exactly is a quartz countertop and how does it differ from natural stone options like granite? The distinction may not be all that clear by looking at beautiful images of newly remodeled kitchens, so let’s start by looking at how these countertops are made. Granite, which is the most common natural stone used for countertops, is quarried from the ground. It is then cut into slabs, polished, and finally cut into the custom shapes needed to fit the kitchens they’ll be installed in. Natural stone continues to be a classic choice for kitchen countertops, whereas quartz countertops are relatively new to the market. Quartz countertops contain large amounts of crushed quartz that are … Continue reading

The Difference Between Mold and Mildew, and How it Starts

Mold and mildew are two things you definitely don’t want growing in any of the bathrooms of your Huntington Landmark home in California. But have you ever wondered what the difference is between these two terms? Mold and mildew are both fungi that thrive in moist environments. In households, this type of environment is commonly found in bathrooms, where mold and mildew often have plenty of light and moisture and are able to feed off soap residue. Mildew usually has a powdery appearance, and may be white or gray. In contrast, mold may be darker and appear hairy. Additionally, whereas mildew is not associated with major health concerns, certain types of mold, like black mold, can be extremely toxic. If you see something fuzzy growing in your bathroom, it’s more likely to be mildew than mold. Whether it’s mold or mildew, you don’t want it growing in your bathroom to … Continue reading

Walk-in Baths Offer a Number of Therapeutic Benefits for Residents of Laguna Woods Village, CA

If you’ve been on the fence about whether or not to invest in a walk-in bath, you’ve probably given some thought to the safety and convenience advantages they offer. Obviously, the most prominent feature of these enclosures is their watertight doors. By eliminating the need to step over the rim of the tub, doors make entering and exiting the bath almost as easy as walking from one room to another. For homeowners in Laguna Woods Village, California, who are facing mobility challenges, this benefit alone may be reason enough to convert a traditional tub into a walk-in model. But easy accessibility is only the beginning of what walk-in tubs have to offer. Once you step inside and settle onto the comfort-height bench seat, the real bathing experience begins. In premium walk-in tubs, the back, neck, and shoulder surfaces can be heated to provide warmth and relaxation throughout your bath. Once … Continue reading
