Classic

Love bungalow or craftsman style homes? If so, you may want to opt for the timeless, sometimes nautical look of classic kitchen cabinets. This could include beadboard-style wood inserts in a shaker frame and glass-paneled kitchen cabinets. 

Inset

You’ll get all the aesthetic benefits of a brand-new kitchen at a fraction of the cost. If the cabinet boxes are showing signs of wear and tear, then it might be time for a full-scale cabinet replacement.

Despite the similarity of the terms, these two couldn’t be more different. Cabinet refinishing simply refinishes your cabinet’s existing doors, whereas cabinet refacing replaces your cabinet doors entirely with brand-new ones. Usually, homeowners see the biggest benefits most akin to a full-scale kitchen remodel from refacing projects, not refinishing projects.

This depends on a few factors: the state of your kitchen cabinets, your budget, and whether or not you love the layout of your kitchen. Refacing is a great option for those whose cabinet frames are in good shape, who are on a limited budget, or who are fine with the layout of their kitchen staying the same. Full-scale kitchen cabinet replacement offers more flexibility, but usually costs more.
